The Palace at Samode, where we spent the night, is a real showpiece of Mogul Art, something out of 1001 nights! Each room, complete with marble bathroom and Lounge, is exquisitely furnished. There are several reception rooms, the Blue room, where all the furniture is upholstered in blue velvet and the wooden frames covered in solid silver. The Mirror room, where the walls are completely covered in Venetian mirror glass, the Painted room, with walls depicting daily life during the time of the Maharaja. Each room or suite is different and we spend the afternoon admiring each others rooms. In the evening there was a banquet, complete with traditional entertainment ,truly a 1001 night experience! |
